Renault has imported the Kaptur to India for testing purposes. The crossover is likely to be launched in India in 2017 and it will be positioned below the Duster.
The Renault Kaptur (codenamed HHA) has been imported from Russia for testing purposes and is expected to launch in the Indian Market in October 2017. The 5 -eater crossover is based on the Duster’s MO platform, and it will be equipped with four-wheel-drive too. It seems like a very important car and will give Renault a chance to consolidate its foothold in India.
Quite identical to the European hatchback Captur, in terms of the name and exterior, the car comes with a few styling tweaks, larger dimensions and tons of features. The Kaptur is 4333 mm long, 1813 mm wide, 1613 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2674 mm. It has a boot space of 387-litres which can further be extended to 1200-litres.
Coming to the exterior, the bold Renault logo and the grille with a new honeycomb mesh pattern gives it an aggressive look and is enough to intimidate anyone. The front bumper is muscular and is integrated with mean looking C-shaped DRLs. At the rear, it flaunts its 3D-effect LED tail lights and also the skid plates on the bumper.
The interior comes with a Media Nav 7-inch touchscreen, keyless entry (all variants) and a heated windscreen. In the Russian market, the Kaptur is available with two engine options (petrol) – 1.6-litre producing 114 HP and 2.0-litre producing 143 HP. The Indian market is likely to be offered with the K9K 1.5-litre diesel engine and the 1.6-litre petrol engine.
