Renault India has introduced a Media Nav system in the Duster, which is a 18 cm touch screen display featuring radio, navigation, telephone and multimedia connection functions. The Media NAV system is placed in the Duster’s dashboard and is offered as part of an optional entertainment package on the 85 PS RxL variant and 110 PS RxZ variant, which are priced at Rs. 10.79 lakhs and 11.99 lakhs respectively (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company is currently selling a large number of Dusters every month, resulting in a high waiting period.
The Renault Duster Media NAV system offers a rich media experience and can stream audio from the radio, USB, iPod or smartphone. The system also has Bluetooth technology, which enables the driver to make calls through the vehicle, hands-free. The Media NAV system can be operated via the touchscreen display or steering mounted controls. The navigation system has 2D, 3D and bird’s eye view graphics. This new system will give the Duster better connectivity on the move.
The Ford EcoSport is the chief rival of the Renault Duster globally. Renault is well aware about the EcoSport’s launch being around the corner. Thus the company has launched the optional Media Nav system, in a bid to spruce things up. The EcoSport will be offered with Ford’s SYNC system which has Bluetooth connectivity and other media options (USB et all). Like the Fiesta, the EcoSport will also have voice activated controls. Renault is widely speculated to launch a 4-wheel drive version of the Duster post the launch of the EcoSport.
