Renault had unveiled the DCross Concept at the 2012 Sao Paulo Motor Show last month, which drew quite a lot of eye candy. This concept gives us a glimpse of how the facelift of the Renault Duster will look like. The Duster has been on sale since quite some time now and a mid-life mild update is due next year. The facelift will help the French auto maker keep things fresh till the next generation model arrives in 2015. The Duster is a compact entry-level SUV conceptualized by Renault’s Romanian subsidiary, Dacia.
The facelifted Renault Duster will get minor changes to the exterior and interiors. The front will get a new bumper, grille and headlights. The side profile will remain almost similar, but newly designed alloy wheels are expected. The rear will get revisions to the bumper and tail lights. On the inside, the Duster is expected to get new fabric along with improvements in quality and addition of some new features. There will be no mechanical changes to this compact SUV which will continue to draw power from the 1.5-litre diesel engine and 1.6-litre petrol engine.
The Renault Duster has been doing very well for the French car maker in India. The vehicle has boosted sales drastically for the company, helping it overtake quite a few manufacturers in monthly sales. Currently the Duster has no real competition but in 2013, the vehicle will face intense heat from Ford’s EcoSport. In order to fend off competition from the American automaker, Renault is preparing to launch more variants of the Duster, including automatic and 4-wheel drive versions.
