Renault has unveiled the Duster Detour Concept in South Africa. The vehicle doesn’t get anything significant but the French automaker claims the concept resembles “Mad Max with a touch of the Terminator” but we don’t blame them as beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. The Duster Detour Concept is being showcased at the 2013 Johannesburg International Motor Show and is the collaborative effort of Renault Design Central Europe and a South African design studio. The Duster Detour Concept has been unveiled at the launch of the right-hand drive Duster in South Africa.
So what changes does the Renault Duster Detour Concept boast of? The vehicle is finished in orange colour and gets black plastic mouldings on the bumper, wheel arches and side skirts. The new front bumper gets an extra pair of lights on either side of the number plate. The Duster Detour Concept is based on the recently facelifted Duster and thus the headlights might look different to those who are used to seeing the old Duster (the one sold in India). The alloy-wheels have been given the two-tone treatment while the roof also gets a pair of lights for better visibility in the jungles at night.
The bigger change is at the rear though where the unique paint job plays its part. The rear section of the Duster Detour (C-pillar onwards) and the roof are finished in matte black shade. The vehicle has been given twin exhausts and the side proudly has Duster written across the doors. No interior pictures were revealed and the mechanicals of the compact SUV remain the same. Renault has no plans to produce the Duster Detour and it will continue to remain a concept for the time being.
