Renault Developing New Compact SUV For 2017 Launch

French automaker Renault is carrying out development of a new SUV that will make its debut by the end of 2017 and will be positioned below the Captur.

The new SUV measures less than 4-metres in length

Renault is developing a new compact SUV which will hit the markets by the end of 2017. The SUV will measure 3.9-metres in length but will be big on space and practicality. The company has codenamed the vehicle ‘Value Up’ and it is going to come with smaller capacity engines and yet it’ll offer more than decent performance. The petrol engine is going to be a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder unit churning out 70 BHP of power and this is the same unit that also powers the Renault Twingo. Apart from this, there will be a 1.5-litre diesel engine on offer, producing 75-110 BHP of power.

On the exteriors front, this new SUV looks quite handsome and butch in its unofficial rendering form. The front fascia has a squarish design with simple yet classy looking headlights. The front bumper gets a silver skid plate along with black trims and straightforward DRLs. The SUV gets a contrasting colour scheme for the roof and it is very much possible that the production version will also get such customisation options. The alloy wheels look quite attractive. The rear has a squarish look and the SUV is very pleasing to the eyes.

It is highly possible that this new compact SUV from Renault will make its way to India too. Since it measures less than 4-metres in length, Renault will be able to price it competitively too. In global markets, the new SUV will be positioned below the Captur, whereas in India it’ll be slotted below the Duster. The French automaker is aiming to price the SUV from 16,000 Euros (Rs. 11 lakhs) but they might price it at a much lower price point for the Indian market.

The SUV will get a 1.0-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre oil-burner
