The Renault Captur has been spotted yet again doing its test runs in Leh, with its closest rival the Hyundai Creta.
The Renault Captur has been spotted testing in the beautiful and mesmerising district Leh alongside its rival, the Hyundai Creta. The French automaker will be launching the Captur SUV in India by the second half of this year. MotorBeam reader Vikas Jain spotted the SUV on test.
The test mule is heavily camouflaged revealing very less details. Underpinning the Duster’s BO platform, the Captur will be slotted above the Duster. The SUV will have larger dimensions with higher ground clearance and could very well feature an AWD (considering the fact that Duster being positioned below the Captur gets an AWD, why wouldn’t Renault offer an AWD on a car that will be priced more than the Duster).
Interiors are likely to remain similar to the European-spec Captur. On the engines front, the automaker could possibly fit in the 1.6-litre petrol engine and the 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine (that does duty in the Duster). Transmission options include a 5-speed manual for the petrol and a 6-speed manual for the diesel. Both the fuel options are likely to get an automatic gearbox option too.
The Renault Captur will come with a lot of bells and whistles including rear AC vents, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps and a touchscreen infotainment system with navigation.
The Duster has brought in good sales for Renault but rivals are one step ahead. However, the launch of the Captur could get things again rolling for the Renault brand. The automaker hasn’t given any official word on the India launch of the Captur yet.
