Renault India has updated the Duster with new features borrowed from the AWD variant, calling it the new generation 2015 Renault Duster.
The Renault Duster has been the French automaker’s bread and butter product for the Indian market. After getting considerable appreciation from the Indian audience at the 2012 Auto Expo, Renault launched the compact SUV within no time and created a unique segment of its own. The Duster climbed up the sales chart becoming a volume spinner competing neck and neck with India’s highest selling SUV, the Mahindra Scorpio. Lately, the Renault Duster has lost some steam and hence the carmaker has rolled out a mild update.
The new updates include redesigned three-spoke steering wheel, soft touch material on the dashboard, leather upholstery, gear shift indicator, cruise control and ECO mode for better fuel efficiency. According to Renault India, the aforementioned updates make it to the next generation 2015 Renault Duster. The facelifted Duster that was revealed more than a year ago in the international market is nowhere to be seen in India. Apart from these Duster AWD derived minuscule updates, the exterior remains untouched.
Renault India didn’t launch the facelift of the Duster yet because they can do without it since the compact SUV is no longer being exported to RHD markets like the UK due to corrosion issues. Since they have released the updates for 2015 model year, the Duster facelift launch has been further delayed by a few months. The Renault Duster continues to be powered by 1.5-litre diesel engines with an option of an AWD variant that comes with add-ons like ESP and independent suspension. There is also a 1.6-litre petrol on offer which doesn’t sell much. The updated Renault Duster now retails from Rs. 8.30 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi)
