The Royal Enfield Meteor gets spotted once again, and this time with additional accessories. As the sightings become more and more common, we suspect the launch to take place even before the festival season.
As we stated earlier, the Royal Enfield Meteor will replace the RE Thunderbird 350X, hence the resemblance in overall design. It’s also been reported that RE had to scrap the name 350X because of copyright issues.
The Royal Enfield Meteor in the latest photo has a tall windscreen, crash guards, pannier mounts, broader foot pegs, silver levers, etc. This suggests that the RE Meteor will come with an additional accessory pack on offer.
Design-wise, the motorcycle gets a new tear-drop tank shape, a signature-RE round headlamp (likely to be LED) and old-school mirrors and indicators.
The Royal Field Meteor comes as the first offering in the new J-platform by Royal Enfield. The J platform is one among the P, J, K and Q platforms which may also make their debut soon.
The J platform is for sub 500cc bikes while P is likely to be for twin-cylinder variants and lastly the K, Q for 600-700cc motorcycles.
Further, the Royal Enfield Meteor will get an all new 350cc engine and a double-cradle chassis. The new engine is likely to make more power than the current 350cc RE’s even with the stringent BS6 norms.
Other standard changes include new seats, a semi-digital speedometer, better brakes, 5X2 spoke alloys, etc. The paint job in the recent photo seems to be exactly like the previous one, i.e. all black with a hint of chrome.
We think that the latest image of the RE Meteor seems to be equipped with all its accessories. The Meteor will probably get a separate accessory list, which will include all the aforementioned parts to enhance the ride quality of the bike.
To wrap up, the ex-showroom prices will be around the Rs. 1.75 lakh mark, which is about Rs. 15,000-17,000/- more than the BS4 Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350X.
