Royal Enfield Classic & Thunderbird To Get Single-Channel ABS

Royal Enfield Classic 500 Stealth Front

Royal Enfield Classic & Thunderbird to receive single-channel ABS, Himalayan to be only Royal Enfield to feature dual-channel ABS.

Royal Enfield recently added a rear disc brake feature to the Classic 350 and 500

Owing to the government of India’s notification saying that all 2-wheelers of 125cc and above capacity need to be equipped with ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), Royal Enfield has decided to update its entire range of bikes with the safety feature quite soon.

Popular models like the Classic and Thunderbird will only get a single-channel ABS system while the Himalayan is likely to be the only Royal Enfield motorcycle to get a dual-channel ABS system. Himalayan getting a dual-channel ABS is a welcome move and another interesting thing to note here is that the export-spec Himalayan is already equipped with a dual-channel ABS. However, a single-channel ABS system is less effective since it only keeps the front wheel in check under panic braking.

Prices of the Classic and Thunderbird equipped with the single-channel ABS are likely to go up by Rs. 5000/- while the Himalayan, on the other hand, is expected to receive a bump of Rs. 10,000-12,000/- in its prices.
