RE Classic 500 Pegasus limited edition launched in the UK, priced at GBP 4999 (approximately Rs. 4.5 lakhs).
The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus limited edition has been launched in the UK at a price of GBP 4999 (approximately Rs. 4.5 lakhs). The motorcycle will be available for bookings from July and only 1000 units will be produced globally, of which 250 units have been reserved for India while 190 units will go on sale in Britain. India prices are yet to be announced.
The Classic 500 Pegasus limited edition model is inspired by the World War II model used by British paratroopers known as the Flying Flea which was manufactured at Royal Enfield’s underground facility in Westwood, UK at that time. The motorcycle will be available in two colours inspired by the original palettes of the Flying Flea – Service Brown and Olive Drab Green. Since the Olive colour is exclusive to the Army in India, our market is likely to get the Service Brown colour only. The website too lists only the Service Brown colour.
Being a limited edition bike, each one of the 1000 units of the Classic 500 Pegasus will carry a unique serial number stenciled on the fuel tank which is reminiscent of the 250th Airborne Light Company that served during World War II. One of the Flying Flea motorcycles is now in RE’s collection at the company’s UK Technology Centre, Bruntingthorpe, near Birmingham.
Powering the Classic 500 Pegasus is a 499cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that produces 27.2 BHP of power and 41.3 Nm of torque. All the underpinnings of the Pegasus limited edition model remain identical to the regular Classic 500. All the Classic 500 Pegasus limited edition models will get a bespoke set of canvas panniers with the Pegasus logo, brown handlebar grips, leather strap with brass buckles across the air filter as well as blacked out exhaust, rims, kick start lever, pedals and headlight bezels.
