The Bullet motorcycles will be the last to get ABS fitted, likely to get single-channel ABS.
Royal Enfield, in a move to align itself with upcoming safety regulations, has added a rear disc brake setup to all variants of its Bullet range. They have not yet been fitted with the compulsory ABS setup. Before the addition of the rear disc brake setup, the range only used a disc system at the front and a drum brake at the rear.
Three motorcycles are currently badged under the Bullet range – Bullet 350, Bullet 500 and Bullet 350 ES. After the fitting of the rear disc brake setup, the bikes have been tagged with prices of Rs. 1.28 lakhs, Rs. 1.32 lakhs and Rs. 1.73 lakhs for the Bullet 350, 350 ES and Bullet 500 respectively (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Bullet 350 and the 350 ES share the same 346cc, single-cylinder engine which can generate 20 HP of power and 28 Nm of torque during operation. The Bullet 500 however, comes with a larger 499cc engine that can churn out 28 HP and 41.3 Nm torque when asked. All three motorcycles use the same telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear for suspension duties.
Barring the inclusion of the rear disc brake setup, the motorcycles do not undergo any other changes. The Bullet range will be the last set of motorcycles by the company to get the ABS fitted as per government norms. The Thunderbird X range got the setup in the previous month. It is likely that the Bullet motorcycles will get at least a single-channel ABS before the government deadline.
