Royal Enfield is set to upgrade its bike range to comply with the BS6 norms before the government deadline of 1st April 2020.
Royal Enfield, a part of Eicher Motors has been working on upgrading its model range to the current BS6 norms since 2016. They are in the final stages of testing, validation and will be ready in time for BS6 as mandated by the government. The bike maker is in full swing towards the upgrade as it is a herculean task to shift towards new emission standards with many changes in the new financial year.
Royal Enfield currently sells various popular models like Bullet, Classic, Thunderbird and Himalayan. Last year, it also launched the Continental GT 650 and the Interceptor 650. The company is in the process of boosting the production of the Continental GT 650 and the Interceptor 650 and the number is expected to touch 5000 units in April.
Royal Enfield supports the reduction of GST to 18% because it believes that the GST on 2-wheelers should be lower than that on cars. TVS Motor Company, Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj Auto have also sought for the reduction in the GST.
