Land Rover has launched the Range Rover Velar in India with prices starting from Rs. 78.83 lakhs (ex-showroom). The fourth member of the Range Rover family was unveiled earlier this year and is slotted between the Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport. Bookings for the luxury SUV have commenced with deliveries planned from the end of January 2018.
The Range Rover Velar comes in three powertrain options – 2.0-litre petrol and diesel and a 3.0-litre diesel engine. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine churns out 177 HP of power and 430 Nm of torque while the 3.0-litre V6 oil burner puts out 296 HP of power and 700 Nm of torque. The 2.0-litre petrol engine produces 247 HP of power and 365 Nm of torque. The vehicle is available in the R-Dynamic and even the First Edition variants while all three powertrains are available in the S, SE and HSE trims. All the engines are mated to the company’s 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Featuring a new design language for the interior, the Range Rover Velar gets two central 10-inch HD touchscreens, one for the infotainment (is slightly curved and can be tilted through 30-degrees) and one for climate control and other functions. The SUV also gets an infinite number of customisation options for the exterior and interior. The Range Rover Velar rivals the Audi Q7, BMW X5, Volvo XC90 and Mercedes-Benz GLE.
