Following the refreshed Discovery 4, Land Rover has officially announced a slew of updates on the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models for the model year 2015. Since both the models are quite fresh, the updates are rather cosmetic and include feature additions and personalization options and a slight upgrade in power. Buyers will now get more customizable options to personalize their ultra-premium SUV with new exteriors and interiors along with a new alloy wheel design that is part of the options list.
Updated features on the 2015 Range Rover and Sport models include new puddle lamps that project the silhouette of the respective cars on the ground as well as a fixed panoramic sunroof with powered blinds. You also get additional in-car technology inclusive of the new Land Rover In-Control infotainment system that made its debut on the 2015 Evoque. The Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models also get the Intelligent Cargo model and built-in Wi-Fi hotspots for certain European markets. Updates also include new 19-inch satin dark grey rims for the standard wheelbase models, while the long wheelbase editions get the very suave looking 22-inch alloys.
Apart from the addition of tech wizardry, the 2015 Land Rover Range Rover also gets improved torque, which makes 40 Nm more than the outgoing version. The 4.4-litre SDV8 diesel engine now produces a total 740 Nm of torque, which the manufacturer claims has improved the in-gear acceleration from fifth to sixth gear by 6.5 percent. The ZF 8-speed transmission remains the same, but now features a re-engineered torque converter to manage the extra power and also weighs marginally lighter.
The 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine gets no changes and continues to produce 340 HP and 450 Nm. The top-of-the-line 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine gets no changes either and continues to produce 510 HP and 625 Nm of torque. Bookings in Europe open today, while prices are expected to be close to the outgoing 2014 models. Expect the updates to follow in India as well, by the end of the year or in early 2015.
