One of the most exquisite models of Land Rover till date, the Range Rover Evoque has been launched today in India. The Land Rover Evoque has definitely made waves in whichever market it showed its presence. Just to give you a glimpse, the Evoque has been such a hit in the international markets that the first year of its production units were totally sold out before the units were even manufactured. Now Land Rover under the aegis of Tata Motors is planning to make the same presence felt in the Indian market. The Range Rover Evoque is available in 4 variants, 3 diesel and 1 petrol. Both 3 and 5-door versions available. Prices start at Rs. 44.75 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the Pure, Rs. 56 lakhs for the Dynamic petrol and Rs. 51.5 lakhs for the dynamic diesel.

The Evoque is available in 2 engine options; the 2.0 litre Si4 petrol and the 2.2 litre SD4 turbo diesel. The Si4 petrol engine is a 2.0 litre engine in a lightweight all-aluminium unit with the latest direct injection technology, advanced turbocharging and twin independent variable valve timing. The engine is fitted with a 6-speed automatic transmission that has been engineered to improve fuel economy and that features Drive Select, an advanced rotary gearshift with steering wheel mounted paddle controls. Also according to officials, the latest 2.2 litre turbo diesel delivers superb torque, responsive performance and impressive refinement. The engine provides power on demand, a very broad torque curve.

A six speed automatic transmission coupled to a full time four wheel drive option is standard on both the engine variants. It provides many features as standard, including the 8” inch high resolution Touch Screen, Bluetooth connectivity with audio streaming, 11 speaker Meridian Audio Sound system, cruise control, Terrain Response, interior mood lighting, steering wheel paddle shifters and full-size panoramic glass sunroof. It is going to be available in 3 variants: Pure, Prestige and Dynamic. According to the official press release, the Pure, Prestige and Dynamic variants are classified as follows:
Pure – “The purest expression of the LRX Concept, brushed aluminium finishes, full grained leather interiors and a neutral palette.”
Prestige – “Featuring an enhanced exterior, 18-inch alloys and the finest interior finishes including real wood, brushed aluminium and Oxford leather, it really is all about you.”
Dynamic – “Muscular exterior, aggressive bumpers, grille and tailpipes and premium leather sports interior.”
Initially the car is going to be imported via the CBU route which localization plans are from 2013. 3 new showrooms are going to come up to take care of the sales apart from the 9 already existing outlets. The company officials state that there is a strong and equal demand for all the 3 models.
