Range Rover Evoque Drops Its Top Ahead Of Geneva

Land Rover has announced the Range Rover Evoque Convertible Concept, which is the world’s first premium convertible SUV. To be unveiled for the every first time at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show 2012, the Evoque Convertible is based on the 3-door Evoque Coupe and is being showcased to gauge customer response and feedback for future production decision. The Range Rover Evoque Convertible features a fully retractable top with Roll Over Protection System (ROPS) and seats 4-people. The off-roading technology is intact in the vehicle, making you feel the wind in your hair as you take the road less traveled.

“The Evoque lends itself beautifully to the idea of a convertible. This study is not a traditional convertible design execution – instead we have worked with the balance of the Evoque’s lines to retain its distinctive shape and create something that is unique and, we believe, highly desirable,” Gerry McGovern, Director (Design), Land Rover, said.

The Range Rover Evoque Convertible will run on 21-inch Titan silver wheels and is finished in metallic Grey colour. The vehicle features Terrain Response system, park assist, surround cameras, 8-inch dual view touch screen and a soft top, which is placed behind the rear seats. The interiors are Lunar and Ivory with leather seats. If this goes into production, we could soon see more convertible SUVs, a BMW X5 Convertible or a Mercedes M-Class Convertible anyone?
