The Bolt shares its mechanicals with the Zest compact sedan including the petrol and diesel powertrains and will undercut the competition in terms of pricing.
After receiving rave reviews for the Zest compact sedan, Tata Motors is planning to make a big splash with the all-new Bolt in the coming months. Sharing its underpinnings with the Zest, the new Bolt is a complete overhaul compared to the Vista model it replaces and surprisingly not too similar either to the Zest in terms of driving dynamics. Considering Tata’s attention to detail, the premium hatchback definitely feels confident, while the design is surely one of the best seen in the market at present.
Although engines will be shared with the Zest, the Tata Bolt gets lower output for the diesel as it misses out on a VGT but that should play as an advantage when it comes to mileage. Set to compete with the Maruti Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and the likes in the hatchback segment, there is a lot riding on the Vista replacement. With the launch scheduled in early 2015, we take a closer look at the new Bolt, a car which can further boost volumes for the Indica maker.
