The Pulsar 200 NS FI is available in some international markets but won’t be sold in India.
The Bajaj Pulsar is often considered as the leader in terms of ushering in new features, styling and technologies in the usually mundane Indian two-wheeler market. The sporty bike has certain aspirational value to it – the company knows this and works actively to rake-in as much money as it can. But it looks like Bajaj is trotting a very carefully thought out path while juggling all the variants of its Pulsar line-up, thereby staunchly refusing to launch the much awaited fuel injected Pulsar 200 NS.
The Pulsar 200 NS FI is the fabled unicorn of the Indian two-wheeler market with Bajaj trying its best to keep it out of our hands. MotorBeam.com got in touch with Bajaj and the company confirmed that Bajaj currently has no plans of launching the bike in the near future in India, even though it is being sold successfully in foreign markets like Indonesia and Turkey. And Bajaj also did confirm that they are looking at more destinations for the street-naked bike overseas.
The Pulsar 200 NS is available in Turkey also has the same output as that of the carbureted unit despite the engine having the fuel injection system. The same engine with FI on the Pulsar RS 200 is tuned to produce 24.5 PS at 9750 RPM and 18.6 Nm at 8000 RPM. The carbureted version of the 200 NS in India was powered by the 199.5cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-valve and triple-spark engine that produces 23.52 PS at 9500 RPM.
Bajaj dealers contacted by us say that in order to keep the sales momentum going for its lower displacement Pulsars and the RS 200, Bajaj has stopped manufacturing the 200 NS for the Indian market over a year ago. If launched, the fuel injected motor will have some inherent advantages over its carbureted counterparts, such as improved throttle response, stress-free cold starts, better refinement and improved fuel economy.
