Hero MotoCorp is said to be working on the development of production-spec XF3R which was showcased two years back in concept form.
Establishing its decision to shift focus to the premium and niche segment products firmly, Hero MotoCorp took a step forward when it patented the XF3R for the Indian market in January 2017. Reportedly, the domestic player is working on the production-spec Hero XF3R in an attempt to conquer the 300cc segment which is dominated by the likes of KTM Duke 390 and Mahindra Mojo.
Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, the XF3R is a street-fighter which comes with a 300cc, liquid-cooled, 4-valve DOHC engine. This 4-stroke motor will come paired to a 6-speed gearbox which hints at its performance-oriented nature and premium positioning with respect to other products in the brand’s portfolio. Pirelli tyres, single-sided swingarm and disc brakes were some key highlights of the concept showcased back then.
The XF3R utilises USD forks up front and mono shock unit at rear. According to recent reports, the motorcycle is already under testing phase and audience can expect to see a glimpse of the production-spec version at the 2018 Auto Expo. The official launch, however, is said to take place only after September 2018. Along with the Xtreme 200S which will be launched in the country soon and the XPulse, this motorcycle will help Hero MotoCorp realise their new market strategy.
