The Bajaj Pulsar RS 400 shares its design traits with the RS 200 but will get ABS as standard and higher power output from the 373cc engine.
The very aspirational Bajaj Pulsar has grown over the years, both in sales and displacement. While the company currently sells the RS 200 as the flagship Pulsar in the country, the automaker has already showcased the RS 400 and CS 400 at the 2014 Auto Expo and will be joining the lineup by the end of the current fiscal or the first quarter of 2016. Shedding all inhibitions on the test model, the upcoming RS 400 was recently caught completely undisguised at what is believed to be a service station.
Compared to the RS 200, the 2016 Bajaj Pulsar RS 400 gets no changes and continues with the same full fairing and aggressive styling. In fact, it is hard to make out the difference between the RS 400 and RS 200 without the badging on the tail section. Much like the RS 200, the Pulsar RS 400 features dual projector headlamps with LED lights, web-spoked alloy wheels and clear lens LED tail light. ABS will be offered as standard on the RS 400, which we hope will be a dual-channel unit.
In terms of power, the Bajaj Pulsar RS 400 will be drawing power from the 373.2cc single-cylinder engine that also powers the KTM RC 390 and is tuned to produce 43.5 PS and 35 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. On the Pulsar though, the engine will be losing on certain superior parts, while power output will be detuned to be somewhere in the range of 35-40 PS. The 6-speed gearbox will continue to be on offer. However, keeping the value for money quotient high, Bajaj will aggressively price the Pulsar RS 400, so expect a starting price of around Rs. 1.75 lakhs (ex-showroom).
