We have seen numerous spy pictures and renderings of the Hyundai ix25 and now the Korean automaker has officially unveiled the SUV in its production form at the 2014 Chengdu Auto Show held in Beijing. The ix25 is a very mature looking SUV and the design is elegant and does not feature much of Hyundai’s fluidic philosophy. The front grille comes with three chrome slats and the design of the fog lamps looks unique. The headlamps seem to come with projectors and the SUV gets black body cladding all around. The side profile comes with a sharp crease. The A and B pillars are blackened for a sporty look and the alloys look chunky too.
We really mean it when we say that we are in love with the interiors of the Hyundai ix25. The design looks premium without going over-the-top. The steering wheel and gear lever are wrapped in leather. The steering wheel has in-built audio and phone controls. The AC vents are positioned vertically and the centre console houses a medium-sized screen for the infotainment system. The Hyundai ix25 will be offered in an automatic variant too since the pictured model gets an automatic transmission gear level. It also comes with auto climate control.
Presently, Hyundai is testing the ix25 in India along with a Renault Duster and a Ford EcoSport. It will come with the same 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines that are offered on the Verna. Hyundai might offer a 4WD option with the top variants. The ix25 will be launched in China on 10th October and the Indian launch will take place in the first half of 2015. The SUV will be priced between Rs. 8-12 lakhs and will compete with the Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV500, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano.
