The Hero HX250 looks promising in production spec avatar with multiple riding modes, dual-channel ABS and a lighter kerb weight promising an overwhelming power-to-weight ratio.
While it wasn’t a smooth ride, Hero MotoCorp has finally got things right with the much awaited HX250R as the production-ready model has been introduced at the 2016 Auto Expo near Delhi. First showcased at the previous edition of the auto expo, the HX250R is the new flagship full-faired motorcycle for the manufacturer.
Quite positively, Hero has kept its word with the production spec HX250 quite close to the concept in design as well as mechanicals. The bike was developed in collaboration with several of Hero’s technical partners globally.
Mechanically, the Hero HX250 uses a 249cc single-cylinder, 4-valve, liquid-cooled engine with fuel-injection tuned to produce 31 BHP of power and 26 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed transmission. The bike gets telescopic front forks and a 5-step adjustable monoshock suspension at the rear while braking performance comes from petal shaped twin discs and a dual-channel ABS unit.
The HX250R also becomes one of the smallest bikes to get different riding modes, certainly a first in the segment. Further, the bike boasts of a light kerb weight of 136 kgs despite being a full-faired offering achievable thanks to the new tubular geodesic frame along with aluminium footpegs and a tubular swingarm.
The HX250 also gets split seats, steel braided brake lines, analog-digital instrument cluster and clip-on handlebars. Much to our happiness, Hero has retained the Pirelli tyres from the concept on the production model as well. We certainly cannot wait to get our hands on this one when the launch happens later this year.
