Polaris Industries has launched a series of off-road and ATVs in India, priced between Rs. 2.4 – 20 lakhs (Delhi). These machines are being brought in as CBU’s from the company’s plant in US and Mexico. The company, which is a U.S. based and a pioneer in developing off-road vehicles is contemplating a setup of an assembly plant if they see the necessary volumes to justify it. The company plans to earn revenues of $400 million by 2016 and will launch its Victory range of motorcycles soon. Polaris is also planning to tie-up with a local company to contract manufacturer its vehicles. The ATVs launched are powered by engines between 50-900cc and can be had in rear-wheel, front-wheel and six-wheel drive versions.
“We will develop future products keeping in mind Indian conditions. Products in India will be different from those in the US. Our future product development will also consider specifically the Indian market,” Mike Dougherty, VP (Global New Market Development), Polaris Industries, said.
