The Japanese 2-wheeler manufacturer, Oshiro is planning to enter the Indian market in the second half of this year. The Tokyo based motorcycle and scooter manufacturer is focusing on the commuter segment and will be launching motorcycles with 100cc – 150cc displacement and scooters with 125cc – 150cc displacement initially. The products will be locally manufactured by Oshiro in India at a plant located at Satara, Maharashtra. This will help them to price their offerings aggressively.
The manufacturing plant is currently under development and is expected to be completed by August this year. Oshiro is planning to launch their bikes by August itself and has started inviting dealership applications from metro cities. The manufacturer promises to deliver good quality products and services to the Indian customers and claims to understand the needs and requirements of an Indian buyer. It is indeed a big challenge for the Japanese manufacturer as Indian buyers don’t like to compromise for anything.
Oshiro motorcycles and scooters will find it difficult to compete with the much accomplished products of Honda, Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj Auto unless and until the Japanese manufacturer puts an aggressive price tag and offers frugal yet powerful engines with their products. There are four motorcycles and two scooters displayed on the official Indian website of the company and we expect these are the products planned for Oshiro’s India launch. The Oshiro brand has a long way to go in India. There are not many details available on their products yet.
