One Electric has announced that it will launch its Kridn electric motorcycle soon, with the price of the motorcycle estimated by the manufacturer to be around Rs. 1.29 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Called as “India’s fastest electric motorcycle”, the Kridn will be ready for deliveries come October, as the Electric Vehicle (EV) firm has completed the homologation process and on-road trials of the bike.
Four cities will be covered during the initial launch, while dealership applications and booking registrations (no deposits needed at present) are being accepted at Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi NCR and Hyderabad.
According to the firm, the Kridn is its flagship model for city commute. It has a 3 kWh lithium battery and a 5.5 kW electric motor that produces over 165 Nm of torque. Range is claimed to be more than 110 km in eco mode, while in normal mode, it drops to 80 km. The top speed is 95 km/hr.
Design-wise, the EV is bare-bones, with styling taken from motorcycles of yore. So, it might be a hit or a total debacle. The IP-protected design of the Kridn has been developed in-house, claims One Electric.
It gets telescopic forks upfront, dual shocks at the back, digital cluster, optional GPS and app connect feature, 120-section rear tyre and disc brakes front and rear. Its manufacturer says, the One Electric Kridn will be perfect for city commutes of less than 100 km per day.
Also to be unveiled a bit later is the Kridn R which will be focused on taxi services and last mile deliveries. The “R” model is expected to retain the specifications of the flagship motorcycle and the firm is working on strategic partnerships with established players for the model.
One more electric bike is also being planned to take the place of an entry-level model with a 2 kW motor, 75 km/hr top speed and a sub-Rs. 1 lakh (ex-showroom) price tag. It is expected to come next year.
