Top Selling SUVs In October 2019

2019 Ford Endeavour Launch

The Kia Seltos has sold almost twice the erstwhile leader Creta which declined by 38%.

It is November 2019, and SUVs still rule. The Mid-SUV segment grew a stellar 40% YoY last month and was supported by the sales of newcomers such as the Kia Seltos, MG Hector & the Tata Harrier. The ex-market leader, the Hyundai Creta saw a very stiff competition and the model now feels dated in comparison. In order to attract new buyers, Creta is offering high discounts which was expected to go even higher with the approaching year-end.

The mid-SUV segment grew by a commendable 40% in October 2019 as compared to just 12% in September 2019. The first position in the mid-SUV segment is retained by the Kia Seltos which seems to be standing by the tag given to it as the ‘Creta-killer’. The new entrant has created new records and sold almost twice the erstwhile leader Creta which fell -38%. It is believed that to a certain extent, cannibalisation is happening from the Venue as well.

The MG Hector is slowly picking volumes by every passing month and is relative to the production capacity at its plant in Halol. It shall soon be eyeing the 3rd spot on the table. Tata is still struggling with the Harrier as it again falls short of the Mahindra XUV500’s volumes.

The premium SUV segment is at the exact same figure as September 2019, i.e an overall decline of 19% while positions on the table have shuffled a bit. The Toyota Fortuner is at the top position with a -29% decline. 2nd in the line, with positive growth, is the Ford Endeavour with a YoY growth report that says 24%. The third position is taken by the Skoda Kodiaq while the Honda CR-V has tumbled to the fifth position.
