Top Selling Compact SUVs In October 2019; Brezza Beats Venue Again

Maruti Vitara Brezza Pros Cons

The Ford EcoSport slips to 4th spot and loses out to the Tata Nexon.

The compact SUV segment grew a modest 12% in October 2019 vs October 2018. But again, raking sales has never been an issue for this mass-favourite segment. Last month, it recorded a growth of 9%. The segment had 2 big launches this year – the Mahindra XUV300 in February and the Hyundai Venue in May. While the Venue is raking in excellent numbers, the XUV300’s volumes are falling down as the high price is not justifiable for this sub-4-metre compact SUV.

The Hyundai Venue had dethroned the segment topper Brezza in the initial few months. However, the latter has regained the dominion for the past 2 months. The compact SUV is at the top position with 10,227 units in its kitty for the month of October 2019. Despite great numbers, it has recorded a decline of -35% when compared to sales last year in the same month. The future is tricky for the Brezza as the company is still unclear on the diesel engine offering. On top of that, Kia is looking forward to entering this highly competitive segment as well.

The Hyundai Venue is at the second position at 8576 units and seems to be stabilizing at this volume. The Tata Nexon has replaced Ford’s EcoSport to be the 3rd most-selling compact SUV on the list. Even though the EcoSport has lost tumbled down a position, it is the only compact SUV on the list with a positive YoY growth of 9%. The Honda WRV is at the last position with degrowth of -58%.
