Hyundai would not be launching any new car in India in the near future and will concentrate on the current lineup out of which some cars might get a minor facelift.
If there’s one brand which knows how to lure customers and make the cars a compelling buy, it is Hyundai. Since the past few years, most of the cars launched by the brand have been a runaway success. Now that the brand has a presence in most of the segments, it is planning to concentrate on the current lineup of cars and not launch any new models in the near future. However, they might launch facelifts of some cars which would get minor changes to make them look fresher.
The most recent launch by the Korean carmaker is the Creta which is entering the highly popular compact SUV segment and is set to disrupt the market. The excellent engines and high quality interiors will set it apart from the competitors. This should add decent numbers to the sales tally of Hyundai which is currently the second largest carmaker in India. A segment which the company decided to exit some time ago was the D2 segment wherein they had the Sonata. Since the sales of the luxury sedan were dwindling, it was discontinued earlier this year.
However, Hyundai is currently conducting a feasibility study for the Sonata in India since it intends to relaunch the car here but is skeptical since the segment itself has shrunk in India. Those looking for a car to drive themselves tend to go for D-segment cars which are more involving to drive whereas the ones who are chauffeured around prefer cars like the Skoda Superb. But, if Hyundai launches the all new Sonata with a potent diesel engine and undercuts the competition by a good margin, the car will make a good case for itself since it will provide unmatched refinement and comfort for the price.
