Mahindra, the largest utility vehicle maker of the country has no new products to launch for the next two years. Until then, the carmaker will push their sales with the existing products launched recently and will gradually release the facelifts of the current lineup. Mahindra was on a spree of new launches in the recent past that included products for almost every segment such as XUV500, Quanto, e2o, Verito, Verito Vibe and the SsangYong Rexton. Until 2016 the carmaker will depend on refurbishments and upgrades along with new fuel options for the current offerings.
Pawan Goenka (President, Mahindra Automotive Sector) believes that the company is ahead of the industry and they did all their major launches in the last two years and this year they don’t have any new product launches apart from new variants. Goenka claims that absolutely new products will be launched only in the fiscal year 2016. So when will the next generation Scorpio hit the roads? Probably 2016. Mahindra is planning to launch the electric Verito in 2015 but it will happen only if the dwindling sales of the e2o gets on the right track.
The all-electric Mahindra e2o has failed to meet the sales expectations of the company falling under 100 units per month and they are hoping the government will announce subsidies soon. According to the situation, the Ford EcoSport rival S101 sub-4 metre SUV will be launched only after 2016. Until then we can expect Mahindra to introduce the cut-price version of the XUV500 soon, which is said to be called the W4 variant. The entry level variant will come with basic features and aggressive pricing to attract buyers from the lower segment.
