Nissan will unveil the V-platform based sedan to to the media in the next couple of weeks. The Japanese automaker will also disclose the name it has chosen for the car, as well as revealing key specifications of the upcoming vehicle. The specifications of the V-platform sedan are no mystery and the car will be powered by the same diesel motor that does duty in the Micra and the Mahindra Verito. The V-platform sedan will compete against the likes of the Honda City, Maruti SX4, Volkswagen Vento, Ford Fiesta and the Hyundai Verna.
The Nissan Micra recently completed one year in the Indian car market. The Micra is manufactured at Renault-Nissan’s facility in Orgadam, near Chennai. The upcoming V-platform sedan’s will also be produced at the same plant. The company will adapt a new, India specific name for the upcoming sedan. The Sunny (used in China) and the Versa (used in the USA) cannot be used here as the copyright to the aforementioned names belong to Bajaj and Maruti respectively. The Almera sounds like a cupboard to most of us, so that is ruled out too. What could Nissan possibly call the upcoming sedan?
