Nissan India lineup to expand with a new 7-seater MPV and a Patrol-inspired SUV
Nissan Motor India has unveiled its future product strategy, confirming the launch of two new vehicles as part of its efforts to strengthen its presence in the domestic market. The company, which currently offers the Magnite and X-Trail, is preparing to introduce an all-new 7-seater B-segment MPV later this year, followed by a 5-seater C-segment SUV in early FY2026.
Both vehicles were recently teased at Nissan’s Global Product Showcase Event in Yokohama, Japan, offering a glimpse into the brand’s refreshed design direction and its intent to cater to the evolving needs of Indian consumers.
New B-MPV Based on Renault Triber’s Platform
The upcoming MPV is built on the same platform as the Renault Triber, a model that has been available in India since 2019. While it shares underpinnings with the Triber, Nissan’s version is expected to offer significant upgrades in styling and features. Adopting Nissan’s latest global design language, the MPV features SUV-like cues such as a C-shaped front grille, sleek headlamps with LED DRLs, sculpted bonnet, roof rails and a pronounced bumper with a wide air intake.
Targeted as a spacious and budget-friendly people mover, the MPV is designed to offer comfort across all three rows, making it a practical choice for families.
C-Segment SUV Inspired by Nissan Patrol
Nissan’s second major launch will be a C-segment SUV that is expected to arrive in early FY2026. Drawing design inspiration from the rugged and iconic Nissan Patrol, the SUV is being positioned as a capable and stylish offering suited for Indian road conditions. High approach and departure angles, wide wheel arches, strong body lines and a tall stance point to a robust design language.
The teaser images reveal a bold front fascia with twin horizontal slats across the grille, a sleek light bar and inverted L-shaped LED elements. The SUV is also expected to feature a spacious cabin, thanks to its tall pillars and large glass area. Nissan has confirmed that a 7-seater variant of this SUV will also be introduced at a later stage.
Local Manufacturing and Broader Strategy
Both upcoming models will be manufactured locally at the Renault-Nissan Alliance facility in Chennai, aligning with the brand’s commitment to “Make in India.” In addition to the MPV and C-SUV, Nissan is also developing an affordable electric vehicle for the Indian market, reflecting its long-term vision for sustainable mobility.
The automaker has set ambitious targets to reach annual domestic and export volumes of 1,00,000 units and plans to establish a four-model portfolio by the next fiscal year, spanning the B, C and D segments.
