It’s no secret that Nissan is working on facelifting all its cars in India. The company gave the Micra a comprehensive facelift earlier this year and next in line to go under the designers scalpel are the Sunny and Evalia. Both these cars will be launched with minor updates around October 2013. While the Evalia’s update will be more feature related, the Sunny’s facelift will get a cosmetic touch up both inside-out to boost appeal of this caaaaar. Now pictures of the updated Nissan Sunny facelift have leaked from China.
The facelift to the Nissan Sunny will be very similar to the update received by the Micra. The exterior will get minor tweaks such as a bigger grille, new bumpers (with chrome inserts), new wheels, sharper headlights, turn indicators on rear view mirrors, chrome strip above the rear number plate and LED tail lights. On the inside, Nissan will keep the cabin the same as the old car but with added features to boost the value for money quotient even further. The dashboard will feature a new centre console with piano black finishing.
Mechanically the 2014 Nissan Sunny will remain the same as the old model. The vehicle will be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox (the petrol is also offered with a CVT box). The diesel powered Sunny is quite popular as the k9k dCi unit is quite frugal. Expect Nissan to hike prices upwards with the facelifted model, which will also get safety features seen in a very few cars in the segment (mostly Hyundai Verna). The Sunny is manufactured in India and the facelift will give an upmarket feel to Nissan’s most popular vehicle in our country.
