Nissan created quite a good stir in the Indian auto market when it launched the Sunny. The Sunny was launched in the petrol variant with the diesel variant expected to come in about duration of 6 months. The Nissan Sunny is based on the Micra’s V platform and is powered by a 1.5 litre petrol engine producing 99 PS of power @ 6000 RPM and 134 Nm @ 4000 RPM. The petrol variant returns a good fuel efficiency figure of 16.95 kmpl (ARAI certified). Now the diesel specs have been revealed much before any hints of its launch.
The specs reveal that the Nissan Sunny diesel is powered by a 1.5 Litre 4 cylinder diesel motor producing 86 PS of power @ 3750 RPM and a healthy torque of 200 Nm @ 2000 RPM. The diesel motor gets a fixed geometry turbocharger. According to media reports, Nissan is not likely to bring the diesel Sunny at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. Although according to sources, the car could be launched sometime in January for a extra premium of Rs. 75,000/- to Rs, 80,000/- over the petrol variant. The petrol variant was launched at an ex-showroom Delhi price of Rs. 5.78 lakhs to Rs. 7.68 lakhs. The Sunny petrol has driven up volumes for Nissan with the company registering a growth of 149% in the last monthn. With the launch of the Sunny diesel, the company is sure to make some good volumes since it is going to be a good option for the currently diesel oriented market.
