Nissan has announced the launch of the Sunny Diesel and opened the bookings. The Nissan Sunny Diesel is available in two variants XL and XV and is priced at Rs. 7.98 lakhs and 8.78 lakhs respectively (all prices ex-showroom, New Delhi). The Sunny Diesel is powered by the K9K diesel motor that also does duty on the Micra, Renault Fluence and Mahindra Logan. This diesel engine produces 86 PS of power at 3750 RPM and 200 Nm of torque at 2000 RPM. Mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the Sunny Diesel returns an ARAI certified mileage of 21.64 kmpl. The launch of the K9K motor in the Sunny is a world first for Nissan.

Some of the key features of the Sunny diesel include dual airbags, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, alloy wheels and engine immobilizer. The feature list is the same as the petrol version and the diesel Sunny commands a premium of Rs. 1.10 lakhs more than its petrol counterpart. The Sunny diesel’s ex-showroom price is the same across India and will only vary due to road tax, insurance and octroi rates being different in different cities. The diesel Sunny is available in six colours – Silver, White, Grey, Red, Blue and Black.
