We have recently reported about the upcoming Nissan compact-SUV, Terrano, and the anticipated information is confirmed by the company officials. Today, Nissan president announced the new SUV name as Terrano and revealed an introductory sketch to adumbrate the new model. The Terrano will be a revised and rebadged version of the Renault Duster as both the companies are operating their business operations in a partnership alliance.
As seen in the artist impression, the Nissan Teranno will sport a new look and the reformed creases on bonnet and sharp body lines sheds the blunt design of the Duster. The front fascia wears a new chrome pillar grille, sharply pointed headlamps and the redesigned bumper changes the car’s appeal and looks flamboyant. At the side the wheel arches might be clad with fibre panels as seen on the Tata Safari and Mahindra Scorpio to make it look more rigid. However, the production model will be slightly altered than the model sketch but Nissan will launch the Terrano having its own individual identity.
The power mills are expected to be the same as offered on the Duster but the new CVT transmission is likely to be introduced on the Terrano. Nissan will assemble the model at its Oragadam plant where the company has been manufacturing the Micra hatchback and Sunny saloon. The Japanese automaker will launch the Terrano by the end of financial year 2013 and the vehicle will be priced slightly higher than the Duster as per the partnership deed between both the automakers.
