Nissan Qashqai spied testing in India for evaluation
Nissan Qashqai that was recently showcased for the Indian market has been spied testing with heavy camouflage. The test mule has been spotted by MotorBeamer Anand. The Japanese carmaker is currently evaluating the launch of this SUV in our country.
Along with this, the carmaker showcased the Juke and the X-Trail to their dealer partners and the media. Out of the three, the Nissan X-Trail is officially confirmed for India launch and it will be imported to the country via the CBU route. However, the other two models are being studied for their feasibility in India.
The 5-seater Nissan Qashqai is positioned below the X-Trail in the international market and it competes with the likes of Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen Tiguan, etc.
It is powered by a 1.3-litre turbo petrol mild hybrid engine that produces 156 HP and is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic. It is also available with an e-Power engine that produces 190 HP and 330 Nm of torque.
If launched in India, the Qashqai will also be imported directly via the CBU route. This means it’ll be quite expensive with an expected price of Rs. 30-35 lakhs (ex-showroom).
For a brand like Nissan, it will be quite a task to justify this price bracket to the Indian buyers.
