Nissan comes up with a limited edition car for Rio Olympics which it sponsors. It has no plans of production for this model though.
Nissan with its Micra surely goes places as it is one of the most famous models around the world in the hatchback segment like how the GTR is in the supercar segment. Nissan is now the global partner of the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games that will be held in Rio de Janeiro. Nissan March, the name of the car in Brazil has been spruced up as limited edition to support the games that are being held in Rio. This special vehicle was designed by Nissan Design America Rio studio which was opened this year. The car features special details such as the white and gold paint scheme, with the colour gold being seen on the rear-view mirrors, side skirts, wheels, spoiler and roof. The logo of the 2016 Olympics is featured on the car’s rear and front fenders and on the boot lid. The specially done alloy wheels seem to be one of the most eye catching part of this Micra.
On the inside though the car gets gold colored seat seams, air vents, steering wheel and dashboard to make it look a winner’s car. The colour gold is being used as a reference to the official logo of the Rio 2016 Games and as well as the sun and heat, which are features of the country Brazil. The engine in this limited edition car study is a 1.6-liter, four cylinder, 16-valve FlexFuel engine which produces 111 BHP and can run on either gasoline or ethanol which makes it efficient and environmental friendly.
The automaker says the March Rio 2016 Edition is a design exercise, with no signs of being produced any time soon. Meanwhile in India, the Micra recently got upgraded and we liked it for its efficiency and space that it offers at a value for money price. We had it as our long term car and it thoroughly impressed us with its diesel engine but the petrol unit remains a lackluster. We expect the supercharged 1.2-litre engine to come to India with the next generation Micra, which is expected in late 2016.
