ASEAN NCAP has awarded a 4-star safety rating for the Nissan Magnite after conducting an assessment on the model recently.
It was the second model under the Nissan brand that the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) had crash tested in the year 2020.
While the body does state that the Nissan Magnite obtained a 4-star safety rating, it has not revealed the details of the results at the time this article was written.
Nissan currently manufactures the Magnite at its plant situated near Chennai and since its launch in December in India, the compact SUV has received over 30,000 bookings.
This is owing to Nissan’s aggressive pricing which includes the compact SUV’s sub-Rs. 5 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) price for the base variant.
But, the demand cannot be put down to the price alone, for the car comes with a couple of petrol engine and gearbox options and decent kit as standard even in the most affordable non-turbo variant.
It comes with dual front airbags, 3-point seat belts with load limiters, ABS, EBD, anti-roll bar, rear parking sensors, 3.5-inch LCD display for the driver, while much more kit if offered as one goes up the variant ladder.
With waiting period increasing on a daily-basis, the Japanese carmaker is looking to increase production of the car in order to meet such unprecedented demand.
If the Nissan Magnite ASEAN NCAP score is equalled, if not bettered, by the India-spec Magnite, it would help turnaround the carmaker’s fortunes in the country.
