Nissan has launched a low cost version of the Micra, called the Micra Active which is the old Micra with minor changes like a new grille and new bumper (without fog lamps). The vehicle is targeted at first time car buyers and is powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine which produces 68 PS of power at 5000 RPM and 104 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Nissan is offering the Micra Active in 4 variants and the company has reduced the weight of the car by 30 kgs (compared to the base variant of the old Micra). The Nissan Micra Active returns an ARAI certified mileage of 19.49 km/l.
The top end varaint of the Nissan Micra Active (XV) gets dual airbags, immobiliser, speed sensing door locks, ABS, EBD and BA (this variant is the one with Safety pack). It is available in 6 colours namely blue, white, black, silver, red and green. The Micra Active is offered with a 2-years/50,000 kms warranty and the company has set up ‘Nissan Care’ customer contact centre to resolve the needs and queries of buyers. The Micra Active will help Nissan in boosting sales in the highly competitive small car market.

On the interior front, the cabin is similar to the old Micra and the headrests are fixed and the dashboard is finished in black with beige inserts. The Nissan Micra Active is positioned against entry level hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Chevrolet Beat and Hyundai i10. There is no diesel engine of the Micra Active on offer and the company has reduced costs in certain places to arrive at this lucrative price point. The base variant of the new Micra starts at Rs. 4.80 lakhs and the Micra Active is positioned right below it.
