Nissan Kicks India Launch In 2018, To Rival Creta

Nissan Kicks Concept Sao Paulo Auto Show

Nissan Kicks India launch to take place in the coming few months, will rival Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur.

The Nissan Kicks was first unveiled in 2016 and launched in Brazil soon after

As per latest reports on the internet, the Nissan Kicks is scheduled to be launched in India sometime this year. Nissan Terrano was launched in India in 2013 while the GT-R was launched in 2016. Considering that the GT-R doesn’t sell as much, the Kicks will be Nissan’s first new product after a long haul of five years.

The Japanese company’s top official told a publication that there will be a new Nissan on Indian roads in the coming few months. The Nissan Kicks sold in the global markets is underpinned by the V platform but the India-spec crossover is likely to make use of the Duster’s B0 platform. Apart from the Duster, the Renault Captur and the Nissan Terrano also are underpinned by the B0 platform.

The India-spec Nissan Kicks is likely to come powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines that are powering the Renault Captur. The 1.5-litre petrol motor makes 106 PS of power and 142 Nm of torque while the 1.5-litre K9K diesel churns out 110 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque. The petrol engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission while the oil-burner gets a 6-speed manual one. Globally, the crossover doesn’t get an AWD option and the India-spec model is also not likely to get one.

Unlike the Terrano, the Nissan Kicks will not mimic the design of any of its partner’s cars. The automaker will slot the Kicks above the Terrano and that puts the former in a position to rival the Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur, Maruti S-Cross and the Honda BR-V. Expect the Nissan Kicks to be priced in the range of Rs. 9.5 lakhs to Rs. 14.5 lakhs (ex-showroom).
