The 12th edition of the Indian Auto Expo is all set to take place in February 2014 and this time it is going to be bigger and better. Expect a plethora of manufacturers from all over the world to be present at the Expo showcasing their latest technologies and vehicles. Many manufacturers choose to launch new vehicles at the Expo to generate a great amount of buzz as well as display their existing vehicles which are already on sale. Since this event is a huge crowd-puller, new launches and updates get eyed by more and more people who are either planning to buy a new vehicle or even plain enthusiasts.
Nissan and Datsun have announced their plans for the 2014 Auto Expo.
1) Nissan – Nissan made its foray into the Indian market many years back by launching premium vehicles like the X-Trail and Teana. However, it is only recently that the company actually started making a good number of sales after launching mass-market cars. The Sunny, which was launched in 2011 has proven to be successful and now Nissan is going to give the Sunny a major update. The new Sunny will have changes on the exteriors and interiors and it will be displayed at the Auto Expo.
Nissan has also developed a new Friend-Me concept which will showcase how the company’s future sedans will look like. The Friend-Me concept is very technologically advanced and it will have some great sporty dynamics. The company will also display a modified Terrano which will have modifications that increase the appeal of its exteriors. The Evalia hasn’t managed to garner good sales and hence Nissan would also showcase an updated version of the vehicle which will have more features. The regular Micra and Micra Active hatchbacks along with the current Sunny will also grace the display.
The Japanese automaker is also going to display the GT-R GT500 which has won many championships in Japan’s Super GT series. Along with all these vehicles, Nissan will promote its safety driving campaign ‘Nissan Safety Driving Forum’ at the Expo. Here, visitors would be briefed on the importance of safety features like seatbelts, ABS and airbags, since safety features are often neglected in India.
2) Datsun – Nissan recently revived the Datsun brand and the company is aiming high for the Indian market. The Datsun GO hatchback was unveiled in 2013 and the vehicle will compete with the Maruti Alto 800, Hyundai Eon and Chevrolet Spark. Datsun will showcase the GO in all colours and also a couple of customised versions of the vehicle to generate some interest from prospective buyers. This is the first time ever that Datsun will be participating in an auto show in India.
Datsun will also unveil a new concept vehicle during the press days of the show. This new concept vehicle will have all the necessary features required by the current generation of buyers and this vehicle will be aimed at the youth. Datsun is also developing the GO+ MPV which will compete with the Maruti Ertiga and this vehicle too will be displayed at the Auto Expo. Nissan and Datsun, both will showcase their products at Hall No 12 of the 2014 Auto Expo.
