Last week, the motor sport division of Nissan, known as Nismo unveiled the Nissan Sunny (Nissan Almera in other markets) with its performance package and now the company has released the details of the Nismo Nissan Micra (March in some markets). The Nismo performance package for the Micra is quite similar to that on the Sunny with the same style body kit and the underpinning modifications. However, Nismo has also tuned the engine and suspension to enhance the driving dynamics of the Micra.
The front bumper gets the carbon fiber treatment at the bottom with similar red blood streaks as seen on the Nismo Sunny. The large grille with razor sharp aerodynamic cuts with DRLs inside the air scoops and the Nismo badge on the upper grille evokes the sporty senses of the modified Micra. The glossy cherry color on the ORVMs, twin V-spoke alloy wheels with 16-inch Bridgestone Potenza tyres look flamboyant. The race inspired suspension, aerodynamic spoiler and diffuser at the rear bumper have improved high speed stability of the vehicle.
The interior gets minor upgrades like bucket seats, red dial tachometer with Nismo badge and the redesigned steering wheel to embrace the driver with its plush aesthetics. The company has launched two trim levels in Japan – Base and S which most probably stands for Sports. The base trim offers only exterior up-gradations and comes with the 1.2-litre petrol engine with CVT transmission.
The S trim of the Nismo Nissan Micra includes remapped ECU, race inspired suspension and a free flow Nismo exhaust that has boosted the power output of the 1.5-litre petrol engine. The S trim will be offered only with the 1.5-litre engine which is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The company has started bookings of the Nismo Micra with the range starting from 1.54 million yen (around Rs. 9.5 lakhs in India). The Nismo Micra will reach Japanese outlets by the end of this year.
