Next Generation TVS Apache RTR 200 Spotted Testing, Reveal Soon

The next generation TVS Apache RTR is heavily inspired by the Draken concept while power is expected to come from a new motor in the 200-250cc category.

The Apache RTR 200 could be revealed by the year end

The next generation TVS Apache is a highly awaited product that will be pushing the envelope further for the automaker and much to the excitement of those waiting, the model was recently spotted testing revealing some new details. With the TVS logo boldly sitting on the crankcase, it wasn’t hard to identify the test mule while the design, albeit camouflaged gives away the inspiration taken from the Draken X21 concept showcased at the Auto Expo last year.

Retaining its street-fighter body style, the next generation TVS Apache prototype can be seen with several upgrades including the larger exhaust muffler, fatter tyres, bigger engine cowl and a slim headlight design with a bikini fairing. The multi-spoke alloy wheels come from the Draken concept while the flat handlebar, petal disc brakes at the front and rear are new to the model. The test mule retained the rear view mirrors, turn indicators and golden coloured front forks from the outgoing version, which could be different on the production version.

Talking about power, the new generation TVS Apache RTR 200 will be using an all-new engine expected to be in the vicinity of 200-250cc. Previous reports have suggested that the single-cylinder unit should churn out close to 30 BHP of power. That said, the Apache will be tuned to be balanced between power and economy given the segment it competes in. The single down-tube chassis from the current model is said to be retained but with extensive changes for better handling and high speed stability.

Other neat bits on the new TVS Apache RTR 200 will include an all-digital instrument cluster, a monoshock rear suspension and a dual-channel ABS unit. It is also believed that TVS will upgrade the Apache RTR 160 and 180 models as well after introducing the 200 version. A launch date remains unconfirmed at present and speculations have been rife of a reveal by the end of this month or in December.

Sales for the new TVS Apache RTR 200 could commence by early 2016
