The sketches reveal the new VW Vento model for Russia and CIS markets, not India.
A set of the next-gen Volkswagen Vento have surfaced online giving away the car’s overall design and silhouette for the Russian and CIS markets. Sadly, this model is quite unlikely to be offered in India. Nevertheless, as per the sketches, the next-gen VW Vento gets a hexagonal grille, flat LED headlamps, X-shaped bumper and a wide lower grille. All aspects scream that the model is inspired by the VW Jetta.
The Russian-spec 2020 VW Vento measures 4483 mm in length, 1706 mm in width and 1484 mm in height. It offers a boot space of 550 litres. The sedan will be powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission producing 90 PS of power. Another 1.6-litre petrol engine linked to 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed manual transmission churning 110 PS as well as a 1.4-litre petrol engine combined with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission cranking 125 PS might be on offer as well.
At the sides, the next-gen VW Vento features a bow-shaped greenhouse and a flattish roofline while at the rear it gets L-shaped LED combination lamps. It also gets faux chrome exhaust tips on the bumper.
A sketch of the interior reveals that the car borrows cues from VW Jetta here as well. It gets central air vents, climate control panel, a fully digital instrument cluster, an 8.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel as well.
India is likely to get a different next-gen Volkswagen Vento or Jetta successor in 2022 only after the India-specific next-gen Skoda Rapid is offered in our market in 2021.
