Dacia Bigster Concept
The Bigster Concept will morph into Dacia’s flagship product by 2025

The next-generation Renault Duster, expected to make its debut in 2022 and also head to India, is set to be based on a new global platform.

This means Renault will not make use of the CMF-A platform when it comes to making the new-generation model of the popular compact SUV in India, when the firm decides to sell the car here.

Earlier this year, Dacia, Renault’s subsidiary, showcased its Bigster Concept which will enter production 4 years from now and become the Romanian brand’s flagship product.

That SUV will be underpinned by Renault’s CMF-B platform and will be larger than the Duster. But, the same platform will be used to manufacture the 2022 Renault Duster in order to keep costs down.

Also, as per the Renault Group’s plans, Dacia will develop global B- and C-segment vehicles for the group, under which the Duster falls.

No more details about the 2022 Renault Duster are known, but expect the compact SUV to be powered by petrol and petrol-hybrid powertrains and feature both manual and automatic transmissions.

In India, Renault plans to have a market share of 4 percent by next year and the introduction of the Kiger compact SUV, above which the next-generation Duster will sit, should help it achieve its target.
