Toyota is working on a new mid-size SUV, based on the TNGA-C platform, also featured on the C-HR.
Toyota has just begun the R&D of a new mid-size SUV which is based on the TNGA-C platform. This architecture also underpins the C-HR. The new compact SUV will be placed above the C-HR, which competes with the Nissan Juke, Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3, and Chevrolet Trax.
We will have to wait until mid-2020 to see what the developers at Toyota have been making. This information has come from Thailand, where Toyota had developed the C-HR. The vehicle will be manufactured in Thailand itself and it is likely to be sold in a few other markets too.
Toyota will co-operate with the Daihatsu so as to carry out a strategic plan, as it was in the case of Toyota Rush and Daihatsu Terios. It is unclear whether Toyota will launch the new SUV in India or not. As of now, the company is readying its own version of the Maruti Vitara Brezza which will be launched here by 2021.
