New Skoda Octavia India launch has been postponed as confirmed by Skoda India boss Zac Hollis on Twitter. Due to the new COVID-19 restrictions and new protocols of Maharashtra under the Break the Chain program, the launch of the fourth gen Octavia is delayed. It was scheduled to hit the market by the end of this month.
There is no word on the new Skoda Octavia India launch date but Zac Hollis says the launch has been postponed until the current situation improves.
The new Skoda Octavia looks mature with its latest design direction. The styling is in line with its elder sibling, the Superb.
The interior looks fresh and luxurious and is loaded with tech. It is built on the latest MQB platform and is larger in size than the outgoing model offering more space inside.
India will get a single petrol engine option initially which is a 2.0-lite TSI turbo petrol engine producing 190 HP. It will be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
There will be no diesel engine on offer since Skoda decided to discontinue diesel powertrains across all its cars in the BS6 era.
The new generation Octavia is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 20-25 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will compete with the only car left in the segment, which is the Hyundai Elantra.
