As posted earlier the facelifted Skoda Laura will be here in May. It has a redesigned nose with larger, more prominent headlamps, a new bumper and restyled grille. Even the bonnet has been reshaped slightly to give it a bolder profile, adding strength to the design. The tail-lights have been subtly restyled, but the illuminated ‘C’ visual remains, making the car instantly recognisable at night. There are additional reflectors in the rear bumper to aid visibility when parked. Redesigned alloy wheels complete the look. The Laura now has larger wing mirrors which also have a heating function to prevent fogging – useful during the Indian monsoon.

The refreshed cabin has a new four-spoke steering wheel and a redesigned centre console with green backlighting. The top-of-the-line model has an integrated multi-media interface, combining in-car entertainment, GPS navigation and mobile phone connectivity. The new Amundsen stereo has a touch-screen interface with self-explanatory graphics to make it easy for first-time users to operate.

The Laura will also get a 160bhp TSI petrol motor, with a seven-speed DSG ‘box. With all these features on offer, we expect Skoda to revise prices but the car will still be competitively priced, notably to Group stablemate VW’s Jetta.
