New MG electric car with high localisation in the pipeline.
By the end of the next fiscal, you will get to see a new MG electric car with a price range of Rs. 10-15 lakhs (ex-showroom). The carmaker is preparing to up their game in the EV space targeting the mass segment.
They already have the ZS EV on sale in India which is priced at Rs. 26 lakhs (on-road Mumbai). The new affordable EV will be heavily localised in India to keep the price in check.
It will be a crossover based on a global platform that will be developed for the emerging markets including India. According to the carmaker, the Indian market will get a “specially tailored” version of the new EV optimised for driving range, Indian regulations and customer taste.
MG Motor India is hoping it to be their volume EV car. It will be heavily localised in order to meet the government’s guidelines for the production linked (PLI) scheme.
The more affordable electric car from MG will directly compete with the Tata Nexon EV which is currently priced from Rs. 15.13 lakhs (on-road Mumbai).
