New Mercedes GLC gets 48V mild hybrid system for both the engines
New Mercedes GLC launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 73.5 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the GLC 300 4Matic and Rs. 74.5 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the GLC 220d 4Matic.
At the time of the launch the new generation GLC is only available in these two petrol and diesel variants. The German luxury carmaker has not introduced the AMG Line variant yet.
The new gen model is longer than the predecessor and has a longer wheelbase too, while the width of the car remains unchanged. The overall look is an evolution over the outgoing GLC. However, the new GLC looks more premium with sharper styling cues and completely new interior design.
The front profile gets a sleek new headlight setup, revised grille and a new bumper. The side profile looks very similar to the outgoing model. There are new alloy wheel designs on offer. The rear gets a sleeker set of tail lights inspired by the newer lot of Mercedes cars following the latest design direction.
The interior too is completely new and might remind you of the flagship Mercedes with the dashboard layout. It gets an 11.9-inch portrait style infotainment system with the latest MBUX system and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
The new GLC is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 48V mild hybrid tech produces 258 HP and 400 Nm of torque. It does 0-100 km/hr in 6.2 seconds. It has a top speed of 240 km/hr.
The 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine with 48V mild hybrid tech produces 197 HP and 440 Nm torque. It does 0-100 km/hr in 8 seconds and has a top speed of 219 km/hr.
Safety features include 7 airbags, PRE-SAFE, Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Attention Assist, Active Brake Assist, Active Parking Assist, etc.
The new Mercedes-Benz GLC competes with the BMW X3 and Audi Q5 in the Indian market.
